Ok, I thought this was kinda funny…
I read Career Success without a Real Job by Ernie Zelinski recently, and was astounded by some of the facts in his book. Granted, I have no idea how true they are…so I’ll just let you come to your own conclusions:
The dangers of Work
according to Ernie Zelinski
“According to a 2002 study in the British medical journal, employees with stressful jobs are twice as likely to die from heart disease as those who have jobs with littler or no stress.”
“Employees who work over 48 hours per week double their risk of heart disease according to a 1996 UK government report.”
“According to a 2003 American study, long-term job strain is worse for your heart than gaining 40lbs in weight or aging 30 years.”
“Approximately 2 million workers die annually due to occupational injuries and illnesses, according to one UN report. This means that work kills more people than war (650,000 deaths per year).”
I know I get sick anytime I start a “job”…seriously…usually I get a quick cold or something (once I swear I had swine flu) but these statistics make me think twice about heading into the workforce.
Do you think they have merit?
